The History of Amiga Engineering™ Pty Ltd.
Amiga Engineering™ Pty Ltd was founded in 1988 by two brothers – Michael and Dale Bourchier in East Keilor. (This was during the time when mobile phones were the size of a brick, and would only last about 1 hour) Amiga Engineering™ was primarily an outlet for machining Pipe Flanges, Fittings and special components. Rapidly, Amiga Engineering™ has grown to becom a successful, reliable and reputable engineering company servicing the Oil & Gas, Mining, Petrochemical, Marine, Medicine, and Defence industries.
In 1995-96, Amiga Engineering™ moved to its current location, in Tullamarine. More staff were brought to the table, including another Bourchier brother (Guy Bourchier) for a short time. Over the next few years, the company began to expand through the bringing together of some former employees and customers.
Amiga Engineering™ later acquired Bradley Technologies, a medical component manufacturer.
In 2009 Amiga Engineering™ acquired Genat and Wood™, one of the last Australian industrial gearbox companies.
Amiga Engineering™ have been modernising its workshop and intercompany mergers. Amiga Engineering™ is now the sole manufacturers of genuine Genat & Wood™ gear boxes; including helical gear boxes, reducers, surface aerators and mixer gear boxes for local and international clients. Amiga Engineering™ also retained the Australian agency for Varmec Gearboxes and Variable Speed Drives.
